The sp2 peak, characteristic of aromatic carbon, features a strong asymmetry that changes with the curvature of the sample surface and, thus, cannot be neglected in spectral analysis. These findings illustrate that both spectral line shapes and binding energy components must be considered in the analysis of potentially defective surfaces of carbon materials. With high-resolution XPS and XPS depth profiling, the spectral components arising from disordered carbon and surface-defect states can be distinguished from aromatic sp2 carbon. Controlled manipulation of such samples is performed by annealing, sputtering, and oxygen functionalization to identify different CC bonding states and assess the impact of the manipulations on spectral line shapes and their binding energy positions. It is usually designated as the D peak that means disorder 47,48. It occurs at a wave num-ber of 1355cm1 and represents a zone-edge A 1g mode due to the disorder. the sp 2-bonding to sp 3-hybridized state as a result of Ar + ion irradiation is achieved from the deconvolution of the XPS C (1s) peak. In this work, an overview of extrinsic and intrinsic effects that influence the C 1s XPS spectra-for example, photon broadening or carbon–catalyst interaction-of various graphitic samples is presented. However, in multi-crystalline graphite such as commercial grade graphite, an additional sharp peak shows up in the Raman spectrum. Unusual surface and edge morphologies, sp2 to sp3 hybridized transformation and electronic damage after Ar+ ion irradiation of few-layer graphene surfaces. These changes are explained by different mechanisms of phase transitions sp3sp2 of carbon films. The contributions of sp, sp2, and sp3 hybridized carbon species can be. After subsequent ion nitriding the ratio ID/IG equals 0,58 and the G-peak width is equal to 189,2 cm-1. XPS spectra were analyzed using the least-squares curve fitting program Winspec. However, the analysis of XPS data-in particular the C 1s region-can be complex, impeding a straightforward evaluation of the data. When assisting the ratio ID/IG increases from 0,5 to 0,9 and the G-peak width decreases to 174,6 cm-1. The UV-VIS spectroscopy measurement indicated that the increase of sp2 fraction and graphitization features of the a-C: H films result in the decrease of the films transmission and optical band gap.X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) is a widely used technique for characterizing the chemical and electronic properties of highly ordered carbon nanostructures, such as carbon nanotubes and graphene. However, when the annealing temperature is higher than 400 ☌, the films become high-density and opaque, meanwhile, the film thickness decrease significantly. Figure 5.5 High-resolution Cu 2p XPS peak for CVD graphene at various exposure. The spectroscopic ellipsometry suggested that the density, refractive index n and the extinction coefficient k of the as-deposited film and the films annealed at 300 and 400 ☌ are not affected obviously by thermal annealing treatments. However, with increasing annealing temperature, the D and G peak positions and the G peak FWHM have no obvious changes. The sp2 peak, characteristic of aromatic carbon, features a strong asymmetry that changes with the curvature of the sample surface and, thus, cannot be neglected in spectral analysis.

Xps peak with sp2 and sp3 series#
Raman and X-ray photo electron spectroscopy (XPS) results showed that the sp2 carbon fraction and sp2/sp3 ratio increase and sp3 carbon fraction decrease with increasing the annealing temperature. Ferrari has revealed its latest Icona series customer special, and it’s a stunner. The influence of the annealing treatments on the microstructure and optical properties of the a-C:H films has been investigated. In this work, hydrogenated amorphous carbon (a-C:H) films were prepared by using a radio frequency (13.56 MHz) plasma enhanced chemical vapor deposition (PECVD) method at 220 ☌.
